SUMMARY
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of all Gun Lake Tribal safety programs, including safety and health regulations, policies and procedures, training programs and other related safety programs for the Government and Gun Lake Casino. This position also assists with technical safety and health support to government and Casino personnel, including providing any safety information that may be required. Provides direct administrative support to the Emergency/Safety Manager.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Five years of professional safety experience
- Able to obtain a Certified Safety Professional designation
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Hazards Act (OSHA) and other applicable state/federal regulations
- Demonstrated experience managing and coordinating resources and projects
- Demonstrated experience with direct responsibility for the protection and appropriate use of highly confidential information
- Proficient in Microsoft Office computer programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform manual tasks requiring physical strength and may be subject to working in extreme weather conditions
- Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, and grasping
- Manual dexterity to operate job related equipment
- Work is performed in a variety of settings from a quiet general office to fieldwork or construction site; additional work areas may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain second hand smoke
- This position may be subject to frequent exposure to extreme levels of temperature, air pollution, noise pollution, and chemicals
- The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and other potentially hazardous equipment
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and be insurable
- Pass a background investigations, which includes: personal history, criminal history, driving record, credit rating, employment references, and satisfy suitability standards established by the Gun Lake Tribal Government and the Tribal Gaming Commission
- Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays and available for emergency calls any time of the day or night in any instance of infrastructure failure or extreme weather phenomenon (on-call as needed)
- Ability and willingness to travel for work assignments, meetings, and continuing education, including out of state if required
