Summary:  

The purpose of this position is to be performing a full range of Educational duties in accordance with established Wind River Family and Community Health Care policies, procedures, and methods. This position reports directly to the White Buffalo Prevention Coordinator.

Major Duties:

Community Education:

Provides assistance and technical support to the community about prevention and education activities.

Provides assistance and technical support to the community about prevention and education activities.

Conduct community wide wellness and education sessions and conferences.

Community Support:

Support the community and schools through social/prevention activities: e.g. building self-esteem, mutual-help, self-help, group counseling, etc.

Facilitate youth talking circles and support groups.

Provide activities including, but not limited to, cultural events and activities, experiential learning activities, leadership and youth empowerment events.

Promote overall wellness and support wellness activities in the community.

Documentation:

Prepare monthly reports of services provided

Enter all activities on the required database system.

Media:

Develop prevention community resources utilizing media, social media, advising, fact sheets, etc.

Support the Youth Media Center and assist in the development of prevention videos and films.

Develop positive messages and speak on the local radio station once a week.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Required:

Knowledge of confidentiality rules and regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2

Skills and ability to publicly speak and represent programs to the community.

Ability to be self-motivated and organized.

Ability to maintain years of continuous sobriety from drugs and/or alcohol.

Ability to maintain a verifiable driver’s license.

Education and Experience:

Associates Degree, along with any supporting certifications such as BLS and other necessary competencies (e.g., ACLS, TNCC, PALS, etc.).

The incumbent must maintain strict confidentiality and high ethical standards in performing the position.  The incumbent needs to be respectful, possess cultural awareness and sensitivity, be flexible, and demonstrate sound work ethics.
