Summary:
A. The purpose of this position is to be performing a full range of Professional
Clinical duties in accordance with established Wind River Family and
Community Health Care policies, procedures, and methods. This position reports
directly to the Clinical Coordinator.
Major Duties:
Practice of addictions therapy
Providing services based on theory and methods of counseling, psychotherapy, and
addictionology to persons who are experiencing cognitive, affective or behavioral
psychosocial dysfunction as a direct or indirect result of addiction, chemical dependency,
abuse of chemical substances or related disorders.
The practice of addictions therapy includes, but is not limited to, addiction prevention,
crisis intervention, diagnosis, referral, direct treatment, and follow-up treatment which is
rendered to individuals, families, groups, organizations, schools and communities who
are adversely affected by addictions or related disorders.
Interviews patients and completes an Assessment to develop an individualized
treatment plan;
Confers with family members, other agencies, and interdisciplinary team
throughout the treatment process;
Applies therapies and interventions to address patients’ cognitive and behavioral
impairment;
Counsels clients, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming
dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes;
Compliance:
Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations including Indian Health Service standards
and certifying agency standards;
Advise staff in the management of records and information to ensure compliance with all
confidentiality laws including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2;
Completes paperwork requirements to maintain quality, up-to-date clinical records,
including assessments, patient placement, treatment plans, progress notes and other
relevant information, enter the necessary information into the electronic health record
(EHR) system, ACCUCARE;
All clinical documentation, services and issues will be reviewed with designated qualified
Clinical Supervisor a minimum of 1 hour per week for 20 hours of direct clinical care, if
provisional.
Engage in Peer supervision, consultation and collaboration.
Ethics:
Reinforcing clinical programming and staff adherence to ethical practices;
Maintaining and modeling a close collaborative working relationships with community
resources to ensure quality care is being provided;
Model and support health and wellness activities and healthy coping skills for clients;
Maintain professional standard of conduct, and model recovery type behavior.
Collaboration:
Work to resolve conflicts at the team level and effectively use supervision and
management for further conflict resolution;
Attend all mandatory training and staff meetings;
Provide coverage assistance to co-workers with group therapy and psycho-education
groups as necessary to assure clients access to services.
Clinical Supervision of Certified Addiction Practitioner (CAP) and Certified Addiction
Practitioner Assistants (CAPA) with approval from certifying agencies.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Required:
Knowledge in the field of addictions treatment in general by passing a standard examination
which may be written or situational, as the board prescribes.
Knowledge of confidentiality rules and regulations including HIPPA and 42 CFR Part 2
Ability to be self-motivated and organized.
Ability to maintain years of continuous sobriety from drugs and/or alcohol.
Ability to work closely in a team staff relationship in program development.
Ability to maintain verifiable driver’s license.
Ability to initiate and follow through with assignments using policies and procedures
Education and Experience:
Graduate degree program with a concentration in addictionology, chemical dependency, or
substance abuse from an educational institution accredited by one of the regional or national
institutional accrediting bodies recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
(CHEA), along with any supporting certifications such as BLS and other necessary competencies
(e.g., ACLS, TNCC, PALS, etc.).

position. The incumbent needs to be respectful, possess cultural awareness and sensitivity, be
flexible, and demonstrate sound work ethics.
