Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

 The Transporter/Case Aide is primarily responsible for transporting children to and from case related appointments which may include, but are not limited to, medical appointments, therapy appointments and family visitation. Additionally, the Transporter/Case Aide is also responsible for assisting the ICWP staff in other case related functions which may include helping with family visits and assist with planning meetings. He/she will be responsible for communicating with medical and other professionals the reason for the appointments and conveying follow-up recommendations to the ICWP Caseworkers. Must show the highest of professional standards and promotes a positive image of the Tribe and its administration at all times.  Perform other duties as assigned to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of the department. 

 Duties shall include, but not limited to the following:

  • Transport children to and from case related appointments
  • Communicate with medical professionals, therapist, and caseworkers about the child' current needs and issues
  • Assist with case related family visitation
  • Set limits necessary to provide a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment when transporting children
  • Assisting program management and staff with daily activity schedule to ensure it meets all client needs
  • Assist with other case-related functions a directed by program staff.
  • Attends all agency, program and team meetings, in-service trainings, and supervision
  • Following a transport of other case-related contact, update the child's Caseworker or Program Manager on the quality of the contact and detail any unusual or concerning behavior
  • Taking and distributing messages for program staff  Able to maintain a positive, pleasant, helpful, and constructive attitude in working with the clients, staff, and the community
  • Taking inquiries and offer program information  Work with limited or minimal direct supervision
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding clients receiving assistance in all aspects of the Social Services Department
  • Be reliable, dependable, professional, and punctual at all times
  • Monitor ICW office supplies and order when needed
  • Maintain records for scheduling appointments for the ICW program staff
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and meet program deadlines
  • Must be flexible in job duties and willing to do other duties as assigned, this may include assisting the Social Services Department Director
  • Must be certified in car-seat safety within 30 days of employment
  • Must work flexible hours as requested
  • Required to keep record of office activities including entering data onto program spreadsheets/data system
  • Photocopying, scanning and faxing
  • Typing documents and correspondence including composition of memos and meeting minutes
  • Making and/or distributing program brochures, flyers and training materials 
  • Represent the Tribe and Social Services in all areas including social media
  • Ability to provide effective and respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural beliefs and practices of the American Indian/Alaska Native population

     Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required (submit a copy w/application)
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license at time of application and during employment, and be fully insurable (attach a copy) (DMV record check will be checked prior to hire and annually thereafter)
  • Ability to establish and set clear boundaries
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application
  • Must not be an active Child Welfare client
  • Some documented experience working in an office setting 
  • Must be able to type or have keyboarding experience
  • Must be able to navigate through various computer software programs
  • If in recovery, must be able to document six (6) months or more sobriety
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor against children or vulnerable adults; or involving dishonesty within the past five (5) years
  • Must pass a drug test under the Safety Sensitive requirements

The Coeur d’Alene Tribe reserves the right to hire according to its Indian Preference Policy. Applicants are subject to a pre-employment drug test and at-random testing following employment. Positions with the Coeur d’Alene Tribe are subject to a 6-month orientation period.
