General Summary:

The IT Information Security Officer is responsible for developing information security policies and ensuring compliance with those policies.

Position Responsibilies:

  • Create and implement a strategy for the deployment of information security technologies.
  • Lead in the development/adoption and enforcement of IT Security policies, procedures and standards.
  • Maintain appropriate security measures and mechanisms to guard against unauthorized access to electronically stored and /or transmitted data and protect against reasonably anticipated threats and hazards.
  • Monitor security vulnerabilities and hacking threats in network and host systems.
  • Track latest IT security innovations and technologies.
  • Report security breaches and oversee investigation of security breaches.
  • Ensure compliance with information security regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Direct the installation and use of security tools (e.g., firewalls, data encryption) to protect sensitive information.
  • Recommend security enhancements to management.
  • Appropriate work attire is required.
  • Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
  • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
  • Perform within the parameters set by board authority including organizations mission, policies, planning, budgets and executive management.
  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal physical requirements.

Position Qualifications:

  • Class D Driver’s License required and must be insurable under Fond du Lac’s insurance requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems and/or cyber security, 4 years’ experience in information security, or a combination of related work experience and education is required.
  • Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Ability to evaluate business processes and IT technology, and to identify risks is required.
  • Ability to share and impart knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience in using job-related tools and equipment is required.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and experience in working with customers and field teams is preferred.
  • Ability to work with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
  • Ability to be licensed by the Fond du Lac Compliance department for a Class C Gaming License to work in and around Casino property and facilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
  • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
  • Travel is required.
