Job Summary:

The responsibilities of the Computer Support Technician Trainee involve installation, maintenance, and support of the various computers (desktop and server), network infrastructure (switches and wireless access points) and the software that runs on them, printers and other computer peripheral equipment, mobile devices, and the Tribes business telephone system. The position reports to the Director of Information Technology.

 

Duties Include:

  • Assist in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktop computers, printers and other peripheral equipment
  • Assist maintaining and upgrading the Tribes network infrastructure
  • Install and troubleshoot Internet connections
  • Assist in providing training in the use of computers and software
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Tribes business phone system
  • Assist in maintaining various maps of computer and network equipment and network infrastructure
  • Order computers, peripheral equipment, and related parts
  • Attend computer-related training
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalency

Demonstrated ability in basic computer skills

Demonstrated interest in computers and technology

Willingness to attend computer-related training

  • Licensing/Certification:

Valid Washington drivers license and insurable driving record required within 30 days of hire

  • Other:

Work effectively under pressure and possess good interpersonal communication skills

 

 

 

Requirements:

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk, sit, stand and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Local, Statewide and out of state travel may be required.

 

 

Individual Training Plan:

 

The trainee must, within the first year of employment:

 

  • Enroll and complete the Technical Support: Certificate of Proficiency at Olympic College
  • Work in all Tribal offices both local and remote sites for a period of time, performing tasks as licensure and skill permit
  • Receive one-on-one training from current IT staff.
  • Work side-by-side with current IT staff as they resolve issues.
  • Begin to take on easy issues, taking on more complex issues over time
