Summary: The Abinoojiyag Resource Center (ARC) has been funded by the State of Wisconsin Department of Children & Families; Bureau of Youth Services to implement a Prevention Program – Biizindadedah Project. This project is working with families to enhance communication skills. This Biizindadedah Project Coordinator will implement the Biizindadedah curriculum with families that have child(ren)/youth in the age group 9 – 17 years. The Biizindadedah Curriculum is an Anishinabe evidence base practice model that promotes healthy, cultural lifestyle.

The ARC Biizindadedah Project Coordinator will be expected to perform the following tasks:

  • Attend required meetings to ensure the success of the project.
  • Attend and complete training on Biizindadedah curriculum and conduct site visits to other tribal communities on their programs.
  • Develop a collaboration among youth programs, cultural activities, and school system to recruit families.
  • Develop incentives for participants.
  • Prepare data reporting to Substance Abuse Prevention Services Information System (SAP-SIS) according to required timelines.
  • Maintain data on family enrollees and other data required by funding agency.
  • Prepare and submit semi-annual progress reports to funding agency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The ARC Biizindadedah Project Coordinator will coordinate and facilitate this project. The Project Coordinator will be expected to set up the program through collaborative efforts among other youth programs; attain training on implementing the curriculum; organize the program to include recruiting participants; provide incentives, implement cultural activities; and will provide reporting requirements to funding agency.

Other Duties: Maintain essential program documentation relating to achieving program goals and objectives. Attend program related meetings, training and workshops.

Education and/or Experience:

Required:

Must be 21 year or age or older.

Minimum of one (1) year experience in social work or human service field is required.

Experience working in Indian Country is a requirement.

Preferred:

BA/BS Degree in Social Work or related field is preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Required:

This is a required driver position.

Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and meet eligibility for tribal insurance.

Knowledge and experience in social work best practice standards.

Indian Child Welfare Act and child protection services.

Willing to work with various agencies such as: Tribal AODA offices, School system, and other related agencies.

Experience working with Indian children and families is a requirement.

Must be willing and able to attend program related training and travel as necessary.

Background Check:

This position is required to pass a criminal background check. This position requires a driver check, to meet eligibility for tribal insurance. Caregiver background check is also required when working with children and/or elderly.

Language Skills:

This position requires an individual to demonstrate diverse communication skills-written and oral.

Reasoning Ability:

Desire to work with families to create positive solution that will benefit children. The individual applying for this position needs to communicate effectively in a professional setting as well as working with families.
